I wish I had a good excuse for not updating my blog until now but honestly, I just haven’t felt like it. You think I would want to relive those awesome memories of New Zealand to and talk about how my time abroad has affected me here, nope. I’ve finally mustered up the courage to give it a try however.
Life in NZ would be great. Minus the cold weather. We were there in the beginningish of their summer and we still had to wear sweatshirts and pants. Even some light jackets some days. Could be because we were so close to the water. I mean NZ it just a huge island and we were only about 5 blocks from the ocean. It’s a breathtaking country though. Exactly what I pictured Ireland to look like. Lush, green grass everywhere. Lots of huge mountains and acres and acres of farmland everywhere. There isn’t a lot of hustle and bustle everywhere. Even in the biggest cities, like Wellington and Auckland, where we stayed, it cities were big but there didn’t seem to be a lot of big city hype. It could be because I’m a foreigner there, I guess if I was just visiting here I wouldn’t feel big city hype either. Could just be my mood too while I was over there, but I was just relaxed.
Molly and I decided to take a road trip from Auckland to Wellington. It’s about an eight hour car ride. We were there for a whole week so we decided to make a weekend out of it. We left on Friday and on the way there we stopped at the Glow Worm Caves. Definitely one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in my life. They take you on a boat and you glide through caves on the water. It’s pitch black except for when you look above you. There are millions of tiny speckles. It looked like a clear night sky, full of stars all shining the same luminosities and almost close enough to touch. They were about maybe 40 feet or so above us but it was like the night sky was right there. It was beautiful. All everyone does it look up and stare in amazement. Supposedly the glow worms are bugs, whose larva actually glows. They look like tiny worms but they are insects.
