Top Ten Tuesday - Books I Want Made Into Movies

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there is a different top ten list and I found it's fun to sit and think about the lists! Anyone can participate and if you link your post on their page, other's might stop by as well.

I have to say that I accidently clicked on an old Top Ten Tuesday but since I already did my list I figured I'd just leave it for this week. I'll get on top of things next week.

Top Ten Books I Want Made Into Movies 

1) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins- Ok, I cheated because this one already is becoming a movie, but I'm so excited for the movie that I had to add it. If I remember correctly it comes out March 2012 - not soon enough!

2) The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare - cheated again because it's becoming a movie too. Even though I have no idea when it's release date it. Jace is one of my favorite characters ever though so I'm really nervous to see him on screen. I don't want it to ruin how I think about him. Excited none-the-less though!

3) Divergent by Veronica Roth - This is one of my favorite book so fall times, so it makes sense I would want to see it as a movie too. (Even though I really hate it when movies are awful compared to the books.) The thing I would be most interested to see is the world, not the characters. What would Dauntless look like?

4) Born at Midnight by C.C. Hunter - I don't know why but I love books about camps. There is such a mix of faeries, werewolves, witches, vampires, etc that it'd be interesting to see them all in one movie.

5) The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa - This world is so fantastical that I would love to see how everything looks. A place covered mostly in snow and ice has to be beautiful, right along with the spring lang were there's probably trees and lush green grass everywhere. I'd love to see these worlds Kagawa has created.

6) The Curse Workers Series by Holly Black - this would be a really fun movie because everyone is so deceiving in this series! Everyone is human too and wears gloves so it'd be fun to just watch everyone try and con each other.

7) Madly and Wolfhardt by M. Leighton - I've never seen a mermaid movie (Besides the Little Mermaid) so I'd be really anxious to see what an underwater world would look like. Plus, they spend half their time on land so I'd love to see transitioning from one world to another. Also, Jackson sounds like an amazing guy and I'd love to see him in person!

8) Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire - This book is set in a college town and since I just recently graduated from college, I'd love to see this book come to life. This story was fast paced and I'd really love to see all these fights scenes come to life, which is weird because I hate it when people fight in real life, but movies are different I guess :)

9) Shade Series by Jeri Smith- Ready - I'd love to see what these violet ghosts look like!

10) The Infernal Devices Series by Cassandra Clare - I didn't want to put an author on here twice but Victorian historical fiction is a little bit of a weakness of mine. I'd also love to see Jem's silvery hair :)

I'm so excited because The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer comes out tomorrow!

There's been so much hype for this book and I'm so excited to get it that I almost can't even see straight! I saw on someone else's blog that they've already bought the book and I was unbelieveably jealous - I had brief spout of anger towards someone I didn't even know over a book, sad. About a month ago I spotted Hades by Alexandra Adornetto in Target a day early so I'm thinking maybe somewhere released this a day early as well? yes?! :)

The only thing stopping me from heading to the store right now to find out is that I'm carless :( My sister and I share a car and right now it's in her possession. You bet that as soon as I get my hands on a steering wheel I'm going straight to Walmart.

If you haven't heard anything about this book below is the Goodreads summary of it. Everyone I know that's been lucky enough to get their hands on a precious ARC has absolutely loved it. (I'm hoping I don't psych myself up too much because then I'm afraid I'll not like it as much as I want to, but I'll just keep telling myself I'll hate it right before hand. Reverse psychology, lets hope it works!)

The summary is so vague but that sparks my interest more! Usually I don't even read the back of books beforehand because I loved being absolutely surprised by everything.

My Review:
I didn't think this novella was amazing by any means.


Everything was pretty vague beause they weren't trying to give away too much, which is understandable, just annoying.

For being in a psych ward it didn't really seem like much happened to her. Everyone there was either trying to kill themselves or pretty numb it seemed, until the very end. I don't even understand why she talked to another girl there in the first place. The story was from the main character's POV though and I just she was pumped up on meds so maybe that's why everything described was pretty boring.

If I had just read this by itself to start the series, I would probably quit reading, but everyone is talking about how much they love this series so I'll still give it a shot!

This story wasn't horrible, I just wasn't a fan.

My Review:
I really, really, really liked this book. I even labeled it as one of my favorites. With that ending -how could I not want to read on? Impossible. Especially since my book came with the first chapter of the next book, which it's always a bad idea to read only the first chapter because you always expect to die where it lets off and of course I did!

Completely original story as far as I'm concerned. People below a certain ago who see ghosts? That's pretty cool. I didn't read the back of the book before I read and I have to say Logan dying was a HUGE shock for me. I was like 'Wow, this is going to be an emotional rollercoaster'. And I was right.

 Through parts of the book I just want to scream at Aura and tell her to let Logan pass. It's obviously killing her to live without him how she wants. But when certain things happen (not giving away anything) things seem ok. Though, some interactions Aura and Logan had I was like 'THIS IS YA?!' I was completely shocked they let a certain part slide in this book.

 And Zach, oh Zachary. The scottish boy who's overly helpful and gentlemanly in every way. He stole my heart :)

 In all honesty to me, the love triangle isn't working. I love both boys. But Aura's feelings towards Zahary, and especially his feelings towards her, don't seem to hold any real substance in the beginning. It's like romance was just created for the sole purpose of the story. I didn't see any huge attraction happening so fast that they were into each other too quickly.

 The ending ticked me off, because I felt like the author might just be keeping someone around for the story. I understand that the person (not saying who beause I don't want to give away spoilers) had isues and couldn't pass, but I just think they are hanging around longer than necessary.

One thing I did love was that we are kept a little in the dark about Aura's and Zachary's lives. Specifically, what Aura is so eager to find in the stars. I'm really looking forward to how this who star gazing thing plays out because I think it will work nicely.

 One of my favorite series already, I can tell. And I'm just about dying to get Shift in the mail!

 My Review:
A beautiful ending to a great series!


If you've been a fan of Ridley and Bo from the beginning you won't be disappointed in this last book in the trilogy. M. Leighton does a wonderful job of tying everything together and making sure Bo's and Ridley's story comes to a conclusive ending.


The only real question I had throughout the series was why Bo and Ridley couldn't ever get really intimate? If it was explained before I couldn't remember and even though this story pretty much takes care of that issue (even tho I'm not saying how, but it's so fun to read!), I can't remember why they keep putting it off.


I was surprised how things played out at the end, which was nice. Ridley saw her future and I wasn't expecting it to really happen, but it did. Ridley only saw little bits so we were left guessing what would happen after her shared visions with Cade.


That's anothing thing - I ate up Bo's jealousy! I thought it was brilliant to make everyone's future depend on someone other than Bo and Ridley. I liked the other characters were major players in this game.


I do have to say that I really would love to read morea bout Devon (I think that was his name) and Savannah's story. I feel in love with their relationship just as much as I did Bo and Ridley's and I think they could possibly have a story of their own. Just a small request for M. Leighton :)

My Review:

One of my favorite books so far this year - amazing!


The story is about a girl, Mercy, who is learning to live life as a Succubus. This proves to be very challenging since her mother won't teach her a thing. The only thing she knows for sure is that if she kisses someone, they could die - her best friend Luke had a personal experience with this. I have to say that I've only ever read about Succubui & Incubui from the Beautiful Creatures Series but even though them I didn't learn a lot. We, along with Mercy, learn quit a bit about their nature here and I can tell there's even more to learn!


This book is long, very long (I'm guessing about 600 pages) and I read the whole thing in 2 days it was so good! You can preview the first 5 chapters online and when you do you'll probably get sucked in just as I did.


Since Mercy doesn't know a lot about controlling herself yet, it's really fun to watch her try. She literally has an inner demon who seems to control her life at some points, which makes situations bad for her but interesting for us. Particularly when it comes to the men. And there's A LOT of different men in her life.


One thing I really enjoyed about this book was that there wasn't a love triangle or even two people working towards one love. Mercy was exploring her teenage inhibitions and with all the hot men running around it definitely kept me interested. I must admit that I have a soft spot in my heart for Luke, even though I understand they aren't really right for each other. This isn't really a spoiler unless you don't want to know much about the other guys but some ppl might want to read the whole book before I say why I wouldn't choose the others: ***spoiler** Flynn is too fickle for me and what he did at the end I thought was awful (why try to break up something good? and to your best friend!), also the bad boy thing is done too much. De don't know enough about Sebastian (even though I can't wait to learn more!) and Paul well, I like him but I just don't think he's right for her. ***spoiler*** I do want to say that at first I couldn't believe she was getting so many guys. It was a bit unrealistic to me, but then I thought about the raging teenage hormones and it made a little more sense. It didn't say this in the book either, but I think her succubus has a lot to do with all the lust floating around.


There are a lot of characters that I can't wait to get to know more - especially the dauntingly mysterious Sebastian and even Mercy herself. Because even though we were in her head the whole time I still don't feel like I know her very well. She choose to ignore things I didn't think she would, or maybe I just wouldn't have, but I think it did help the plot flow that way.


My biggest problem with the book was all the errors throughout but once those are fixed this book will be golden!


After talking with Shannon, it seems like we are in for a long ride with these characters and I can't wait for the next book!! Sorry this review is a tid bit long but I could talk about this book all day. :)


Bottom line: if you love YA, crazy romances, paranormal, Indie author, or any combo of those, then you'll love this book too!

I did read this after I had already read the third book in the series. Even though I mentioned that in my review I just want to point out that I may have effected how I felt about this novella.

My review:
A great little novella about what happens between The Iron King and The Iron Daughter. Ash and Meghan are on their way to the Unseelie Court and are being chased by an ancient, vicious hunter.


I enjoyed this little story but I didn't find myself in love with it. I was confused because right now Ash is still obviously trying to hid his feelings for Meghan, but he keeps letting them slip. I understand that, I just think I'm having trouble going back to how they used to feel about each other because I have just finished the Iron Queen.


I was very confused as to why Grimalkin would help Ash and Meghan. I know he thinks Meghan's interesting and fun to watch, but I really still don't understand why he helped them out of the blue - it just doesn't seem in his nature.


Overall, cute little story and it really did help me figure out why Meghan was so hurt in the beginning of The Iron Daughter with the way Ash was treating her. She was talking about how they seemed to have spent so much time together and I couldn't figure out what she was talking about because I didn't feel like we got as much Ash and Meghan time as she was talking about. But this little novella explains it all. Her feelings for Ash in the the beginning of The Iron Daughter are much more valid after reading this.

A favorite!

I read this little novella right after I finished The Iron Queen. It's only available as an ebook so right now I'm really thanking my Mom for buying me a Kindle even though I told her I really didn't want one. (I use it all the time too!)

My Review:
Love that we get into Puck's head! That's definitely not something I was expecting. I thought since the ending of The Iron Queen and the Iron Knight were all going to be from Ash's POV so would Summer's Crossing, but nope we get the whitty, charming Puck!


Even though it was so short, I love this story because there's so much banter between Ash and Puck, and I always enjoy that.


I do have to say it scared me because I had to question Puck's morals a few times but I can see why Julie had to do that. I think most people would think/feel the same way Puck does if they were in that situation. I was wondering how he was taking the whole Meghan situation and I'm glad I finally got an insight into his head.


I do have to say that this story was very interesting, hilarious, and so much fun I loved every minute of it!

My Review:


This book kept me interested the whole time, however, there were just some parts that I found unbelieveable - not completely, but I was just like 'really? that wouldn't happen'. Not enough that I disliked the story though. I obviously loved the story since I read this 500 page book in a day!


The characters were so realistic I would love to meet them in person. Travis was fun because he was a badass fighter and Abby was great because I felt her emotions were real.


The romance in this story wasn't black and white. The characters changed their minds and situations caused different emotions to come out. The whole story wasn't just a romance about a couple who couldn't be together. It was about a couple with problems - real problems - and even though I thought some of the reasoning was stupid, people make stupid decisions in real life all the time. I really admired the great way Ms. McGuire made her characters come to life!


I understood in the beginning that Abby was supposed to be all sweet and innocent but I feel like she lost all that too quickly. I don't think someone goes to such extremes as quick as she did. That was one of my problems.


Also, I was frustrated that Abby's family situation, and where she found herself sometimes as a child, were a tid unrealistic to me.


Overall, I would suggest the story and I will probably reread it again, because there's so much I know I didn't catch it all. Would definitely recommend for a comtemporary romance!

Review: The Iron Queen (The Iron Fey #3)

My Review:


'WOW' and 'WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS?' are the two things that immediately came to mind after reading the ending. Lets just say Julie really knows how to deliver an ending, or a cliffhanger, and I sobbed, smiled, and laughed like a baby at the ending.


This story begins right after Meghan and Ash have banished themselves from the faery realm. Well right after, the Iron fey come looked for her making her go on a suicide mission to destroy the false iron king. Things are so bad even the Winter and Summer courts have teamed up for this war. Meghan is left to make a heart-wrenching decision that destroys as well as mends.


You can really see how well Julie's writing styles has progressed. I was completely enthralled with Iron Queen! The first two I liked but wasn't completely hooked or in love with, but this book made the series a hook-line-and-sinker favorite. Meghan as a character developed SO much. This somewhat shy, hesitant girl is completely gone. Meghan faced her challenges head on and didn't let anyone get in her way, and I mean anyone - faery, iron fey, father, even Puck or Ash.


The biggest and really only problem I had with this story was that Ash seemed to obedient with Meghan. After a certain something (not saying because HUGE spoiler) he had to ask her before he could do anything - and that really bothered me. He basically had to ask to protect her at one point, which left me very confused.


In this book we got to see a lot of both Ash and Puck, which I was very greatful for. I love Ash but I can't resist Puck's devilish charm. There was a lot of banter between the two and I loved every minute of it.


I couldn't put this book down, seriously. I've loved some books and can go a day without reading it but this one was devoured in about two days (and it took that long only because life got in the way.) Because of this book alone the Iron Fey series has become one of my favorites and Julie Kagawa is one of my new favorite authors. I simply CANNOT wait for The Iron Knight. Thank goodness it isn't over yet!

My Review:
I wasn't in love with Halo but I liked it enough to give Hades a try and I gotta say I'm happy I did! Hades was a much better story because the pacing was perfect. Things didn't move too fast and I found myself happy with Bethany's character.


I must admit that things happening in Hades didn't really add up for me. The way Jake handled Bethany didn't seem right. He's a demon so I thought he would have done more to her, even if it was against her will. [***spoiler start*** I also thought that Bethany being able to communicate with Xavier was really cute but it didn't seem like that should be happening and I thought it was kind of annoying that she could. Don't get me wrong I'm glad she could but I don't like it when the main characters always can do these extraordinary things. ***spoiler end****]


I remember reading a description that made me think I would judge Xavier's loyalty or not, but I honestly never did. I understand he got upset and Ivy and Gabriel had to set him straight sometimes, but I think for a teenage boy that's normal.


What I was not expecting was the whole Gabriel and Molly thing. I'm really anxious to read about them in the Heaven!


Overall, I found myself really liking the book and I liked that we got to see a lot more of Bethany's family, Ivy and Gabriel. They're nice characters to read about and I'm glad we learned more about them.


I must say I definitely didn't see that ending coming and I don't really think it made sense - Xavier never acts so spontaneous like that. But it made me eager to find out what Heaven's all about!

My review: 

I really liked Iron Daughter, even more than the Iron King! In this book Meghan goes back to the Winter Court with Ash as promised. You would think with Ash being there she wouldn't be in any danger, but that's not really the case. Ash starts being cold and distant again and Meghan is basically left to defend for herself. Then something happens and people start to change their minds while the Iron Fey start to advance on their new enemy. My opinions about characters changed in this novel and I loved some character, like Puck, so much more! I feel in love with his charm and playful ways. We find out that Puck and Ash know a lot about each other, as they should they were best friends, but I found myself wanting their back story. How I'd love to read just more about the two of them. Puck's tricks and Ash on the more relaxed side would be a great read no doubt. Ash's old relationship is resurfaced and I couldn't tell how he felt about it, in fact, I still can't. I hope it's addressed in the next book that he's either over it or never will be. It's bothering me and I think the readers need to know. Ash and Meghan's relationship really bothered me A LOT in the beginning of the book. Him blowing her off and her not really doing anything about it but complaining got to be a little, but they finally talked it over. You'll have to see what happens by reading though! I must say that I think they loved each other a little too quickly. The ending of this story was a completely fulfilling one. It was so great for me, except leaving one little person behind :(, that I almost don't want to read the next book. I'm scared of what comes next! One of my favorite characters just had their heart broken, and I'm not sure when Meghan will see him again :/ Which I'm sure she will because he has to come back! Definitely recommend this series!

All my book were bought this week. And, sadly, since Borders is going out of business, I was able to get a lot for a little (not that I'm complaining).

I'm really excited about both of these because I've already read the first and I'm loving the series so far. I'm a little over halfway through Iron Daughter and I'm definitely captivated. 

I've seen so many great reviews about this book I just had to buy it!

This book shows my love of psychology. I just can't pass up a chance to learn about the way the human mind works. 

I have been waiting on this one a long time and thanks to Target messing something up, I was able to purchase it a day early! Completely made my day! I've already read it and will have a review up shortly :)

There was another psychology book I split with my sister but I can't find it and I can't seem to remember the title so I'll just save it for next week.

My Review:
I was lucky enough to land a copy of this book because my sister won it through a Goodreads giveaway! I had hear great reviews about this book before we received it and I have so say I definitely wasn't disappointed!

This is a GREAT story. It's a dystopian novel about a girl, June, who follows the governments orders without ever thinking about them. Well she meets Day, who the government would love to kill, and her life changes.

There's a lot of death and this book got me because the deaths are all very sudden. You aren't eased into the death or given a warning, which I think is different than other books.

I wasn't confused throughout the book, except a little when they talked about the governments. I know I'm supposed to understand the differences between the sides but in all honesty, I really didn't. Maybe I will come to understand. I understood everything that was going on throughout the book however.

I read the ARC so there were some spelling errors and a missing word but other than those, it's an amazing dystopian novel. There are so many out there now that sometimes I think it's done too much instead of being done right. This one seems to be done right. It didn't make me as emotional as the Hunger Games did, so if you're looking for something that you can keep your emotions in check for, this would be a better guess.

I would definitely suggest to anyone!
